There is this interesting life broadcast by Jean Pierre Renard of Ecole des vins de Bourgogne, from Beaune to Hong Kong and some other countries over the week.
Fly me to the moon is not about the lovely song here, it is the name of the event. It is about Nuits Saint Georges.
In the book " From the Earth to the Moon ", author Jules Verne envisioned in 1867 that the first lunar explorers would celebrate their moon landing with " a fine bottle of Nuits ". In 1971, to commemorate Verne's sci-fi forecast, Apollo 15 astronauts named one of the moon's craters " Saint Geroge Crater ". Completing the circle, the town council in Nuits Saint Georges rechristened the main square in the village Place de la Cratere. The vineyards of Nuits Saint Georges, celebrated by Jules Verne and Apollo 15, have been indeed successfully producing wine of the first rank for at least one thousand years.
In corporation with the Bourgogne Wine Board ( BIVB ), the Drink Business Hong Kong has conducted this master class for us to know more about the wine, climats and vineyards there.
Thanks to the publisher Miss Ivy Ng, who has provided us lots of information and fun.
And of course the professional tasting too.
I had a nice diner with the Mr. Stephane Vedeau at the Amber of Landmark Mandarin.
Stephane is the wine maker and owner of La Ferme du Mont and Clos Bellane from the Rhone. To make the evening more delightful, we were glad to have the company of Miss Laely Heron, the wine maker of Heron Wine San Francisco.
We shared a good bottle of La Ferme du Mont Vendange Chateauneuf du Pape 2013, in which Stephane's great craftsmanship surprised us with his Burgundian approach. Before the CDP, sommerlier Mr. John Chan introduced us with an interesting white from Austria - Single Vineyard Zieregg of Tement. Very nice bottle.
A great evening with a lot of sharing about passion and vision from 2 great wine makers !
