Maturity/Drink: Read to drink since 5-6 years of age, will become impressive at around 8. The wine can last 10-15+ years easily, and it is difficult to forecast when it comes to 20s - we don’t have any wine that can keep in the cooler so long but not drinking !
Tasting Notes:
“ Even better than the Vendange cuvee, and I suspect one of the wines of the vintage, Stephane’s 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Côtes Capelan is the top wine of the estate and is made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, raised 70% in concrete and 30% in barrels. There’s under 500 cases of this beauty and it reveals a deep purple color as well as decadent notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed rocks and melted licorice. Full-bodied, thick, unctuous and massively concentrated, with ripe tannin and a killer finish, don’t miss it! If you haven’t figured it out yet, Stephane Vedeau’s La Ferme du Mont is one of the up and coming superstars of the Southern Rhône. “ (Jeb Dennuck ) (10/2016)
Things you should know:
Jancis Robinson named Wine Maker Stephane Vedeau as the Best New Rhone Wine Maker. His Flagship " Capelan " will surprise you with a very different style of Chateauneuf du Pape, which is more of a Burgundian approach with silkiness and finesse.
