Within the vast Languedoc vineyard , Altugnac operates 110 hectares in the Limoux appellation area in the Haute-Vallée de l'Aude . This specific region is located in the extreme southwest of the Languedoc vineyard , at the foot of the Pyrenees , in an area where Mediterranean and Atlantic climatic influences combined. The place is magical and immediately pleases the Collovray & Terrier family in love with the grandiose landscapes and the relief of this Cathar country .

In the midst of other rather exotic grape varieties for natives of the Mâconnais, they find in the Aude Valley the famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir , emblematic of Burgundy: a strong argument for conquering these new terroirs and enriching themselves with their specificities.

The still wines of Limouxin knew how to play the card of originality by basing themselves on the coexistence between the Atlantic and Mediterranean grape varieties and on the local microclimate. Here the vines are planted on terroirs whose altitude varies between 200 and 600 meters, which helps to moderate the summer heat. This zone of climatic confluence enjoys both optimum sunshine due to the Mediterranean influence, cool nights due to the proximity of the Pyrenees, good ventilation generated by the Tramontana and a balanced rainfall thanks to the contributions ocean entrances.
